DEPUTY Roy Le Hérissier has been accused of making irresponsible and unfounded statements in a projet lodged this week calling for a committee of inquiry into a planning application.
In a personal statement released today the outgoing president of Environment and Public Services, Deputy Maurice Dubras, said comments made by the proposer left him extremely dismayed and deeply concerned.’They are nothing short of irresponsible,’ he said.’By bringing into question the ethical and professional conduct of the planning officers directly involved severely undermines the reputation, not only of those employees of the States of Jersey but also the work of the whole department in dealing with all applicants, developers, objectors and the public.’Deputy Le Hérissier lodged his projet after Environment approved 75 Island Plan homes on the site despite a States recommendation in January to limit the scheme to 45 units.
