JERSEY has commissioned the first lifesize holographic portrait of the Queen as part of the Island’s 800th anniversary of its unique links with the Crown.
The commission was undertaken by leading UK holographic artist Chris Levine, who is better known for more radically contemporary work with subjects including fashion designer Stella McCartney, Madonna, Massive Attack and photographer Mario Testino. The chairman of the 1204-2004 celebrations, Nigel Quérée, said: ‘The commissioning of the holographic portrait of Her Majesty the Queen is at the very heart of the celebrations of the 800 years of our special relationship with the Crown.
Everyone involved in the 2004 celebrations was thrilled when permission was given by Her Majesty and the unveiling of the portrait will be one of the most poignant events this year and a legacy for future generations.’The unique portrait will be unveiled on 23 June.
Mr Quérée would not say if the Queen or a senior member of the Royal Family would perform the unveiling.
