PLANS to mark the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Island with a weekend of celebration were announced in the States today.Policy and Resources president Senator Frank Walker addressed the Chamber on the need for everyone to get involved in developing a series of events for the weekend leading up to the liberation anniversary next year.He said: ‘The prosperity Jersey enjoys can be linked directly back to 9 May 1945 and for the past seven years we have been celebrating that event annually in Liberation Square through a civic ceremony.
