Teenagers in hospital detox

FOUR teenagers were given detox treatment at the General Hospital early on Sunday after becoming seriously ill from taking a drug believed to be used to treat asthma.

Police were called to the hospital at 6 am after two girls aged 16 and 17 and two youths aged 19 and 20 had been admitted for treatment.The young people had been found in a serious state by a friend at a private address and they were admitted to hospital where they remained for most of the day.A 16-year-old youth was arrested in connection with the illegal supply of the drug Aminophylline and was released pending further inquiries.Insp Bernie Noel warned of the danger of using illegally supplied drugs even if they were prescribed.
