THE public will pick from four different scenarios for the Island’s future at the next Imagine Jersey event on Saturday.
Members of the public will be invited to act as the Council of Ministers for the day at the event, which is being held at the Gloucester Hall at Fort Regent.
They will decide on one of four general directions that the Island should go in, to respond to the expected tax shortfall in 2008, and to ensure the continued prosperity of Jersey.The options are:For the Island to remain much as it is and cope with a smaller finance industry after 2008The Island moves to a zero/ten tax structure but maintains the current population levelA zero/ten tax structure is implemented, and limited economic and population growth is allowedThe new tax structure is implemented and all barriers to population and employment growth are removed
