A HOAX bomb threat caused major disruption yesterday afternoon as emergency services evacuated hundreds of people from the Weighbridge area.
A suspect package was identified by bomb disposal experts at the bus station and a controlled explosion carried out at around 5.25 pm.The police have assigned four detectives and other specialist staff to hunt the hoaxer and said they were confident they would get their man.
They say that they are treating the matter as ‘very serious’, adding that the maximum penalty for the offence was seven years in jail.
