Four in court over hoax call

FOUR people who allegedly caused a major bomb scare in town last week appeared in the Magistrate’s Court today.

Kerrie Ann Moignard (20), Mathew Charles Paul (19) and two boys aged 17 and 14 all reserved their pleas to being involved in the bomb hoax at the Weighbridge on Thursday.Police legal adviser Lawrence O’Donnell said that the gang took part in a premeditated and well thought-out act which caused massive disruption. The court heard that the hoax bomb, which was a shoebox containing a timing device, some nails and some flour, was originally placed in British Home Stores.

But after changing their minds and finding that the market was closed, they decided to place the pretend bomb in a bin at the Weighbridge bus station. All were remanded to reappear on 5 April.
