ISLANDERS gave a resounding vote for controlled economic growth at Imagine Jersey Two on Saturday.
Around 250 people attended the event at Gloucester Hall, to continue the public consultation process that will lead up to the Strategic Plan.
lmost all of the discussion groups supported the third option out of four scenarios proposed to them.
They threw their support behind a package of measures that would allow limited population growth, cut through government red tape, encourage rural diversification and bring new industries to the Island.
lack of Portuguese and Polish people meant that Saturday’s audience were not particularly representative of the Island as a whole and although middle-aged or elderly people made up most of the audience, there was a good showing from young people.
he first Imagine Jersey event in November allowed Islanders to make proposals about what kind of Island they wanted to live in and encouraged creative thinking on a large number of subjects.
Saturday’s event was more directed and required those who took part to choose one of four options for the future of Jersey.
