THE Jersey Secondary Schools’ Sports Association have announced their 16-player squad to represent Jersey in the under-15s’ Star Trophy against Guernsey on Saturday week.
Team manager and coach Paul Dicker said: ‘The squad was finalised after we had a final look at the players during a 2-0 victory against Grainville School’s Year-11s last week.
There were still two or three places undecided and those positions have now been secured.
The five players who have not made the squad will still train with the squad and they will be involved again on the day of the match.’The Jersey squad are touring the Southampton area next weekend.
On Friday afternoon they play Redbridge Community School while the following morning they have a match against Southampton Schools.Following the Southampton fixture the party will travel to watch the Nationwide League Division I game between Reading and Stoke City at the Madejsky Stadium.Jersey have a training session on Sunday morning and before flying home in the evening they will watch the Premiership match at St Mary’s Stadium between Southampton and Liverpool.Jersey and Guernsey meet for the Star Trophy at Springfield on Saturday 20 March, kick-off 6 pm.Jersey: Greg Forster, Ben Cairney, Oliver Gallagher, Jamie Cullen and David Kenyon (all De La Salle); Matthew Brookland, Piers Cummins, Oliver Thompson and Paul Dingle (Victoria College); Stevie Reid and Scott Slicer (Haute Vallée); Brett Willoughby (Le Rocquier); Casey Laurent, Elliot Fernandes and Danny Flynn (Les Quennevais) and Tom Cupit (Grainville).
