At the end of the month the number of people out of work stood at 758, up just two on the January figure.Although many of the new jobs were from companies advertising seasonal positions, a number were full-time posts in the construction and finance industries.
During January the Job Centre was advertising an average of 40 vacancies each day but that rose to 93 during February. The number of people out of work is about one per cent of the working population.
