THE States are to be asked to agree to an income bar on the Christmas bonus for senior citizens.
Employment and Social Security Committee president Senator Paul Routier told a meeting of the Senior Citizens Association at the Town Hall yesterday that the Christmas bonus was the only benefit from his department which did not have an income bar or any form of means test.He told the 40 pensioners present, who were concerned about proposals to increase income tax and introduce a sales tax, that the change in the bonus criteria would mean that the very wealthy would not receive a bonus to ensure that enough funds went to the really needy.
