Dorey would work towards CI League

STALWART Dave Dorey says he would work ‘tirelessly’ towards introducing a Channel Islands League should he be elected as the 17th president of the Guernsey Football Association.

Dorey, who has 25 years’ unbroken service on the GFA Council, confirmed he would be standing for the presidency when Alec Le Noury steps down in July.Dorey’s confirmation came in the same week that Roy Trustum, currently senior vice-president, stated that he wished to take over when Le Noury’s 19-year reign ends this summer.Dorey, who joined Council in 1979 and has served as vice-president, secretary, fixtures secretary and chief executive, said he had carefully considered whether to stand so soon after taking over the chairmanship of the Guernsey Island Games Association.’I believe that it is possible to be chair of both associations and do justice to both.

It would, of course, not be possible to be chief executive of the GFA and chair of the GIGA because of the amount of paperwork involved,’ Dorey said.Dorey promises fresh impetus from a man refreshed by a relatively restful period away from the helm of domestic football.
