ANOTHER UK company has supported the Jersey Evening Post’s Fair Play VAT campaign and cut its prices.
After seeing our progress over recent months, Nicola Erickson, the manager at Clinton Cards, wanted her store to be involved.
She put pressure on the company’s head office and forced the management to come up with a special price package for Jersey. It is yet another business in the Island that wishes to add its name to Fair Play’s list of stores which have knocked off the VAT being charged by UK companies. The news comes just a week after Fair Play won a famous victory over Sky Television, forcing it to produce a reduced price package for all customers in the Channel Islands. And the invitation is open to other UK stores to join the campaign and declare themselves VAT free.Store manager Mrs Erickson has also said that she would be in favour of a ten per cent local sales tax if the States could stop all other shops charging VAT in Jersey.
She argues that consumers would still be better off and at least the money would be going back into the community.
