STATES spending cuts of about £13 million and over 150 jobs for next year are expected to be unveiled on Monday.
However, a further £14 million is believed to have been sanctioned to fund new projects in 2005.
About £1.5m of that money is earmarked to pay States Members wages, improvements to facilities in the States building and costs associated with ministerial government.Just over £7m of the £13m expected in cuts will come from axing services and jobs with a further £6m being found from general efficiency savings.
A total of 157 full-time posts are likely to be axed during the year.The cuts are understood to have been agreed by States committee presidents and senior civil servants from the fundamental spending review process.States Members, unions and the public sector will also be told about the plans on Monday and they will be publicly revealed on Tuesday.Among the cuts expected are the freezing of the Christmas bonus to pensioners.
The JEP has learnt that others on the list of expected cuts in services and jobs include:- Les Quennevais library to be closed and the opening times of both the Les Quennevais and Springfield sports stadiums to be reduced.
Four jobs will go as a result.The general hospital car service and patient transport services to day care centres will cease.
There will be 8.8 full-time equivalent jobs axed as a result.
Reserved patient parking will end.Pound for pound grants to sports and community groups will cease.The unemployed will have their disability transport allowance payments frozen.
There will be fewer ante-natal clinics for pregnant mothers with four jobs to go.Grants to organisations such as Family Nursing and Home Care and the Jersey Citizens Advice Bureau are to be reduced.The Jersey Child Care Trust grant is to be axed.Measurement of bathing water quality will stop and there will be cuts in budgets to investigate pollution incidents.
