Five years for £1m fraud

A MAN who admitted defrauding over £1 million from two trusts and an associated company was jailed by the Royal Court for five years this week.

Gerald Roger Smith (47) was also disqualified from holding a company directorship for 15 years.The court heard on Wednesday that Smith had spent the money on a lifestyle beyond the limits of his salary.

He bought houses in France, paid for garage services for his Ferrari, paid off heavy credit card debts, funded travel expenses and went wine and dining out.
