THE exclusion of capital gains tax from Finance and Economics’ proposals is to be independently reviewed by a group of politicians.
The Shadow Scrutiny Panel chaired by Deputy Jerry Dorey has decided to look at that single issue rather than Finance’s proposed package in its entirety.’We decided that the whole of the tax proposals were too much of a mouthful for a scrutiny panel with a short life,’ said Deputy Dorey.The shadow scrutiny panel has been set up to enable States Members and the public to get used to the system before the switch to ministerial government at the end of 2005.
