Barker lands Footballer of Year trophy

Weekend sport in brief
ATHLETICS: Jersey athlete Simon Phelan won a bronze medal - his first senior medal - at the South of England Track and Field Championships in Watford at the weekend, when he produced a high jump of 2.0m.
He was outside his PB of 2.07 which he cleared earlier this season to break the Island record, but had he managed to equal it he could have won silver.
The second-placed jumper manager 2.05m.
The gold medal-winning leap was 2.10m with the athlete going on to attempt a PB of 2.17 after the event was over, although he didn’t clear it.
The other Jersey competitor taking part was Peter Irving.
Although he failed to qualify from the heats of the 400m hurdles he finished in fifth place in the final of the 110m hurdles with a season’s best time of 15.36 seconds.
