AN internal audit report has identified ’significant weaknesses’ in the way the Island’s competition watchdog has been run.
As a result, the chairman of the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority, Patrick McNutt, will not be reappointed by the Economic Development Committee, the States were told today.
In a statement the Economic Development president, Deputy Gerald Voisin, said the committee had initially intended to reappoint Mr McNutt and lodged a proposition to that effect in April.
It was only when the committee received a draft report from the States audit commission that significant weaknesses in the governance of the JCRA were revealed, he said.
