Football fans - and police - prepare for the big match

FOOTBALL fans are gearing up for tonight’s Euro 2004 quarter final in Lisbon between England and Portugal - and so are the Island’s police force.

The States police are treating tonight as they would a busy weekend or a Bank Holiday and will have extra officers on duty to deal with any disturbances that may take place.

Thousands of Islanders are expected to go to pubs and clubs to watch the big match.

Whatever the result, Jersey’s England or Portugal fans will be celebrating or drowning their sorrows.
