Business from the Jersey Evening Post

Jersey’s super-yacht boost

ONE of the plushest boats on the market has been unveiled to the world in Jersey.

Over 30 journalists and marine dealers from 16 countries descended upon the Island this week to witness the launch of boatbuilder Sealine’s largest and most opulent creation.

With its luxurious peachwood-lined bedrooms, numerous flatscreen DVD players, sprawling sundecks and navigational wizardry, the 60-ft T60 is Sealine’s attempt to break into the super-yacht market - but at a size that will still fit in most marinas and which can be easily handled by two people.

Most boatbuilders choose a boat show to unveil their latest design but Kidderminster-based Sealine has a tradition of staging their own party.

Previous designs have been launched against the backdrop of Slovenia, Grand Bahama, Italy and Majorca.

For the £800,000 T60 Sealine the venue was Jersey.

‘As well as the obvious attributes of the Island, we chose Jersey because the launch boat - which is the only one built so far - is destined for the Southampton Boat Show at the end of the summer,’ said Sealine’s chairman Gerard Wainwright.

‘It is undergoing sea trials in the Channel between now and then so it made sense to keep it in local waters.
