TAX is the big issue for the States next week.
Members will debate the Fiscal Strategy proposed by Finance and Economics which, if approved, will pave the way for the Island to move to the zero-ten corporate tax structure.
The proposition, however, does not seek approval of a sales tax.
Instead it simply seeks backing for further investigation and a report back next year.
Inquiry However, it is possible that the proposition will not be debated at all, if Members first approve a proposal from Senator Stuart Syvret for a transparent inquiry on taxation options.
It will be vigorously opposed by Finance and Economics on the grounds that the work has already been done or does not need doing.
The subjects listed under Public Business for debate are: Taxation policies: a transparent inquiry, proposed by Senator Stuart Syvret, with comments from the Finance and Economics Committee and the Policy and Resources Committee.
Draft Transfer of Functions (Environment and Public Services Committee) (Jersey) Act 200, proposed by the committee itself.
Fiscal Strategy, proposed by the Finance and Economics Committee with amendments from Deputy Geoff Southern.
Shadow Public Accounts Committee: revised membership, proposed by the Privileges and Procedures Committee.
Commissioners of Appeal for Income Tax: appointment, proposed by the Finance and Economics Committee.
Public and political access to economic models, proposed by Senator Stuart Syvret.
Draft Taxation (Implementation) (Jersey) Law 200, proposed by the Policy and resources Committee.
Written questions and answers will be published on the following subjects: Deputy David Crespel will ask questions of Senator Stuart Syvret regarding matters relating to the termination of pregnancy.
Deputy David Crespel will ask questions of Senator Mike Vibert regarding matters relating to sex education.
Deputy Roy Le Hérissier will ask a question of Senator Mike Vibert regarding nursery and child care provision.
