FOUR Jersey teenagers under the age of 16 have had abortions without their parents’ knowledge or consent.
The information came to light this morning following a written question put by Trinity Deputy David Crespel to the president of Health and Social Services, Senator Stuart Syvret.
The Senator’s response stated that the girls had been given a termination, related advice and treatment in accordance with the Termination of Pregnancy (Jersey) Law 1997.
Since its introduction, 32 procedures have been carried out on women under the age of 16, four of those without parental consent.
