News from the Jersey Evening Post

Later start for the West Show

THE Jersey Evening Post West Show will go on - despite the sudden and surprising emergence this week of mid-winter.

But the showground will not now be opening to the general public until 11.45 am, with the official opening of the show still taking place at the advertised time of noon.

West Show committee member Andrew Le Brun said that Wednesday’s and yesterday’s unseasonable weather had hampered preparations for the show.

Saturday morning is needed to prepare the showground, so the association has decided to postpone the opening of the grounds.

The West Cattle Show will go ahead at the stated time and will still be in progress as the showground opens.

Mr Le Brun said that the later start would allow extra time to finalise preparation of the show-grounds and the arrangement of marquee exhibits.

Otherwise, the 2004 show will run as planned and opening hours on Sunday are unaffected.
