CHARGES against a teenager arrested for allegedly breaching the peace have been dropped after Magistrate Ian Le Marquand said there was no legal case against him.
And the Magistrate also questioned whether Police constable Robert Binns, who arrested Lee Allison (18) at Snow Hill on the night of the football riot in Minden Place, had actually broken the law by taking hold of him before placing him under arrest.
Mr Allison admitted a charge of breach of the peace at his last court appearance, but was advised by the Magistrate to change his plea after the facts were read out.
At the time, Mr Le Marquand advised the accused to seek legal advice, saying: ‘He is a young man and it is important that justice is done.’ In the Magistrate’s Court on Friday, the charge against Mr Allison was dropped after Centenier David Letto said that no further evidence had come to light.
