Cricket:CI juniors on top

THERE was just one victory in the second day of the Junior Senior Schools U14s Cricket Festival yesterday.

Huntingdonshire were able to beat the Isle of Wight by four wickets after the island opened with just 137.

The Jersey Select side managed a draw with North Hants, helped by a 32 from Adam Russell and a 31 from Greg Forster.

The Channel Island team, who put in a good performance on Monday with a crushing 142 win over Jersey, drew with Winchester.

Tom Gibbs made made an excellent 50 while Antony Kay was not that far behind with an impressive 43.

The results mean that the CI and Hunts top the table with 36 points each.

Today, Hunts take on North Hants at Les Quennevais, Winchester play Jersey at Grainville while the CI play the IoW at College Field.
