A £10 MILLION investment in Jersey’s three- to five-year olds could be needed in future to provide equal educational rights for all.
But Education say that even if suggested, such a scheme could not be afforded.
Almost 200 parents and carers attended a public meeting last night to argue for equitable financial assistance for all children aged from three to five years and they are now to await the outcome of a report to see whether such assistance is recommended.
At present there are 17 States schools with free nursery provision attached, offering 520 places.
Not all parents are able to receive free care and the parents action group which arranged last night’s meeting are campaigning for a subsidy to be put in place for all three- to five-year olds.
