Overseas expansion for Island law firms

TWO of the Island’s largest law firms are expanding into new territory.

Ogier is setting up an operation in New Zealand and Mourant du Feu & Jeune are opening an offshore legal practice in the Cayman Islands.

Ogier, which recently merged with Cayman firm Boxalls, will be providing trust, legal and administration services in New Zealand to ‘onshore’ clients who may not be able to use offshore trust structures.

The directors of Ogier Fiduciary Services (New Zealand) Ltd include a New Zealand lawyer and Guernsey advocate, Marcus Leese, and William Simpson, head of the Guernsey office.

In New Zealand legal advice will be provided by Pravir Tesiram, a partner in New Zealand firm Taylor Grant Tesiram.
