JERSEY Lavender has launched a new website, which aims to provide an improved online shop for its range of lavender-based products and information on visiting the farm during the summer season.
Its managing director, Alastair Christie, said that the mail order side of the business had been growing steadily over the years with little promotion.
Although it represented a small proportion of the overall business, mail order was a rapidly increasing mode of purchasing goods, and for Jersey Lavender it had the advantage of not being linked to fluctuations in the tourism market.
It also provided an all-year-round income.
A new mail order catalogue is being produced and is given to purchasers of the products at the Jersey Lavender Farm shop to encourage them to place repeat orders.
However, Mr Christie said that the website had the vast advantage that many more people could be reached at a fraction of the cost of a traditionally printed catalogue.
