THE Co-op is testing a new self- service check-out till at its supermarket in St Peter.
From next Thursday, shoppers will be able to scan their own goods and then use a touchscreen machine to pay for them with cards or cash.
The trial will begin with four machines at the western Grand Marché but if successful the machines will be installed in other Co-ops around the Island.
‘This is the first time these machines have been used in Jersey, although they have already proved a great success in the UK,’ said the Co-op’s marketing manager, Jim Plumley.
‘We have found that more people are shopping more frequently these days, so this self-scan system is designed to make their lives easier
