THE people of Armenia have thanked two Island politicians who recently completed a ten-day trip to the former Soviet satellite.
Senator Ted Vibert and Deputy Celia Scott Warren were warmly thanked by members of the National Assembly of the Republic Armenia for giving more than £63,500 in aid since 2001.
They had gone on a fact-finding trip organised by Oxfam, who were joint partners with the Overseas Aid Committee - of which Senator Vibert is vice-president - on a primary health care and clean water scheme.
Both politicians paid for the trip themselves.
The deputy chairman of the standing committee on social affairs, health and environmental protection in Armenia, Mnatsakan Petrosyan, asked the visitors to pass on to the people of Jersey ‘the heartfelt thanks of the people of Armenia for their wonderful generosity’.
