POLICE have been alerted to a case which may have involved deliberate attempts to harm seagulls with rat or slug bait.
The Animals Shelter were called by a member of the public in St Peter yesterday after a seagull regurgitated a piece of ham tied up in a parcel with black string and containing a blue substance.
The case is being investigated by the Environment Department.
Shelter manager Pru Bannier said that if tests showed that the parcel did contain rat or slug bait, the action was extremely dangerous, not to mention illegal.
