YESTERDAY’S play-off for 11th place in the pairs’ competition at the men’s world outdoor bowls championship in Ayr between Derek Boswell and Allan (AQ) Quémard and Damien Allison and Harry Anderson of the Philippines was won by the the Pacific Islanders, 19-11.
Although they led 6-0 after four ends and 9-2 after seven the Jersey pairing only took two points after that, both secured on the 16th end as their opponents slowly but surely forged ahead with ones and twos.
Overall Jersey therefore finished overall 12th out of 24 teams.
The Island’s triples team of Alan Shaw, Lee Nixon and David Le Marquand play their last match at Ayr today.
