Planning look at a cheesy proposal

THERE may be a milk processing plant in St Peter, if Planning approve an application that has been lodged by Classic Herds Ltd, the farming business of Darren Quénault and his family at Manor Farm.

The application is to convert part of an existing agricultural shed into a milk processing plant to manufacture soft cheeses.

The intentions of Mr Quénault to process his own milk have been public for some two years, and have been regarded coolly by the Jersey Milk Marketing Board.

On Wednesday a dispersal sale of most of the Quénault family’s Classic Herd is being held, the proceeds of which Mr Quénault hopes to use to further his plans for home production of dairy products.
