AN advertising company which put up 60 banners in St Helier without planning consent does not have to remove the offending items.
Ross Abacus TIW Advertising was responsible for the street banners and flags as part of credit card company Visa’s chip and pin promotion to advise the public of incoming changes to card use.
The company’s creative director, Martyn Aubert, said that it had spent six months getting the usual permission from property owners, the parish of St Helier and Public Services, but did not know that in this case Planning also had to be consulted.
Last week Planning considered a retrospective application, and because of the educational nature of the campaign they agreed that the banners could stay in place until the end of September.
