PROLIFIC youth offenders and more comprehensive crime reporting are being blamed for a 14.2% increase in recorded crime.
The States of Jersey police’s performance report for the first half of the year, released this morning, says that the rising crime rate is down to young offenders and tighter recording rules.
Compared with the first half of 2003, crime has risen by 14.2 per cent, but the increase compared to the three-year average since 2001 is just over 6%.
