A RUINED cottage at Les Mielles is to be restored - 60 years after it was destroyed by fire.
Four years of dogged persistence by the cottage’s owner, Frederick Brown, finally paid off yesterday when the Planning Committee met on site and agreed to reverse a previous committee’s refusal.
The former Planning Committee repeatedly refused to countenance restoration of the tiny ruin above Les Mielles golf course.
The latest planning committee, Environment and Public Services, found Petit Clos Luce to be an exceptional case worthy of restoration.
They told Mr Brown that they were minded to support his plans and have invited him to submit an application.
Mr Brown’s agent throughout the long fight to restore the cottage has been architect Richard Le Sueur, who was delighted with the outcome.
He would now set about drawing up plans, but the restoration would not be a grand design, he said.
Petit Clos Luce will be simply restored to a one-bedroom cottage.
