THE Aids charity Acet Jersey has been disbanded by its trustees and all 18 full-time and part-time staff have been served with redundancy notices.
The charity’s £47,000-a-year executive director, Rosemary Ruddy, has been given three months’ notice and the rest of the staff one month.
Trustees chairman Mike Wavell said that the decision had been taken because Acet’s financial situation was unsustainable.
He said that they had been assured next year of a £97,000 grant jointly from Health and Social Services and Education - but that sum was not enough for them to continue to deliver their current service.
