THE States police are to set up a new unit designed to make criminals worry about what the police are up to.
The unit of one sergeant and eight constables will concentrate on intelligence-led ‘proactive’ policing designed to target persistent offenders.
The object will be to reduce rising levels of recorded crime, which have increased in the first six months of this year.
States police chief officer Graham Power said the need for the unit was identified in the last Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) report on the States police three years ago.
