PENSIONERS will lose some of their entitlement to free bus travel and most single fares will rise by almost five per cent under proposals from Public Services.
All trips after 8 pm will cost £2 under the new fare structure, and pensioners will be able to claim free travel only between 9 am and 4.30 pm, and after 6 pm.
Outside those times, they will have to pay the full fare.
The Environment and Public Services Committee want to increase fares from 26 September and have asked for public feedback on the planned increases.
Under the new scheme: Most single fares will rise by the cost of living (4.8 per cent).
Pensioners will have to pay full fare for peak travel, but can travel free at off-peak times - between 9 am and 4.30 pm, and after 6 pm.
