Weekend sport in brief

ATHLETICS:The Ansbacher CI women’s athletics team had their first Southern League Division I win, in Reading on Saturday.

SHOOTING: In Stage 1 of the Kolapore competition held at Crabbé yesterday, top scorers were as follows: Mary Norman 105.14; Andrew Le Cheminant 105.11; Alex Langley 104.12 and Peter Stock 104.10.

PETANQUE: Winner of the PBS Ladies Singles competition held yesterday was Jane Rondel who beat Pru Vibert 13-10.

Anne Billot took third place after beating Joy Hart 13-7.

GOLF: Winner of the La Moye GC Jubilee Putter Medal competition played on Saturday was Jim Paton who finished with a nett 68 off a handicap of 15.

Denny Marshall was second with nett 70 (BB9) off ten handicap and Geoff Ramskill was third with nett 70 off three handicap.

SHOOTING: John de la Haye and Dave Le Rendu tied on 45 ex 50 to share the High Gun title and Class A at Crabbé Clay Pigeon club’s 50 bird shoot yesterday.

Martyn Shales won Class B with 42 ex 50 and Clive Feltham-Fletcher won Class C with 25 ex 50.

GOLF: The result of the Demi Golf Society monthly medal competition played at St Clement’s Golf & Sports Centre on Saturday was a win for Ray Pearce with a nett 58 off his 14 handicap.

Peter Osment was second with nett 61 off 16 handicap while Ian Beeley came in third with nett 62 off 12.

SOFTBALL: Results of yesterday’s JSA Barclays league matches were: Wheways Wildcats 21, Scotiabank Storm 11; AIB Shamrocks 12, Cubs 10; Barclays Niners 17, Ansbacher Flyers 1; CPA Pirates 14, Gordon’s Falcons 3.

GOLF: With 43 Stableford points off his 11 handicap Kieran Goodricke won the Standard Bank Jersey Junior Foundation Sid Guy Memorial Trophy competition at the Royal Jersey GC yesterday.

Kysee Ang was second with 41 pts off his 21 handicap.

Gyles Robin was third after a countback, with 40 pts off his handicap of five, ahead of Alex Clark and Sam Crenan.

SHOOTING: Tony Satchwell retained his title in the Le Brocq ‘Sniper’ Shield competition held by the Modern and Military Arms Association on Saturday, beating Mark Douglas into second place.

BOWLS: The Famous Grouse competition, played over the weekend, was won by Gaynor Thomas who beat Karina Bisson 12-6 in the first all-woman final in this annual contest.

Thomas had beaten Darren Clarke 12-9 in the semi-final, while Bisson had scored 19 points to Fred Helleur’s seven at the same stage.

CYCLING: David Jardine was first man home in the JCA 58-mile time trial on the Watersplash cicuit yesterday, covering the eight laps in 2 hours 39.53 min.

First veteran home, over six laps, was Tony Richomme in 2.01.35, with Helen Goulding the first lady to finish and Jamie Patterson first junior.
