Cricket:Sarnians prevail in festival

Guernsey’s juniors emulated their senior island counterparts with a victory, by six wickets, over Jersey in the Under 12/13 Jersey Cricket Festival yesterday.

Jersey batted first at College Field and scored 132 for six, with Ben de Figueiredo, 60 runs, continuing his good form aided by Sam de la Haye, who hit 31.

However, the runs came slowly against accurate bowling and good fielding from Guernsey and Jersey will have been disappointed with their final score.

Guernsey bowler Adam Hindle took three for 19.

Guernsey scored 133 for four, with D Hooper scoring 30.

Jersey’s Tim de la Haye took three for 21.

At Les Quennevais, Pembrokeshire drew with Dorset.

Pembrokeshire scored 162 for 8 (S Mills 46), with Dorset’s J Taylor taking three for 24.

Dorset scored 130 for 7 (A Kendrick 39).

Bedfordshire drew with North Hants, also at Les Quennevais.

Bedfordshire scored 212 for 6 declared (C Wood 42) followed by North Hants who finished on 110 for 6.

T Willmore took two for 17 and G Thurston two for 19.
