Wealthy residents welcome

HOUSING president Deputy Terry Le Main has written to accountants, lawyers and trust firms to try to attract new wealthy residents to the Island.

In an e-mail sent out to firms dealing with rich clients, the Deputy said that his committee would welcome discussions from potential wealthy residents with a view to granting 1(i)K status.

Regulations regarding 1(i)K residents changed recently, and there is now no minimum tax contribution qualification.

In the e-mail, he wrote: ‘Please be advised that without wanting to shout it from the rooftops, the Housing, Finance and Economics and Policy and Resources Committees are very much open for discussions with potential wealthy persons from all over the world who would like to permanently reside in Jersey.’
