THE Rector of Grouville has appealed for understanding from his congregation over his relationship with his church secretary.
The Rev Francis Mason has left his wife of 25 years after declaring his love for Gill Holl, who is also married with children.
She and husband David have separated.
Mr Mason’s wife, Sian, and three of their four children are still living in the Rectory but are facing an uncertain future.
Mrs Mason has been seriously ill for a decade and as a result cannot work and has no source of income.
‘I have no plan.
It’s just blackness,’ she said.
However, the Rectory is owned and maintained by the parish authorities and the Constable, Dan Murphy, has pledged to do all he can to help Mrs Mason.
The Bishop of Winchester, Michael Scott-Joynt, has requested Mr Mason’s resignation because of his relationship with Mrs Holl, and although Mr Mason accepts that he has no future at Grouville, he is currently taking legal advice over his future and hopes to be able to continue his ministry in the long term.
