A WAR memorial to two Second World War pilots killed in action off the Island 62 years ago was desecrated at the weekend.
A swastika was daubed on a gilded plaque in grey car spray paint.
However, the perpetrators revealed their ignorance by painting the Nazi symbol back to front.
The actions of the vandals, who ignored all other Occupation structures on the St Brelade headland, and a new memorial unveiled two weeks ago, has upset a D-Day veteran.
Sid Peck, a survivor of the Pegasus Bridge action which liberated the first house in France on 6 June 1944, said he was disgusted when he heard the news.
