Island link to UK charity inquiry

A CHARITY which funds shelters for children in India is under investigation over money laundering allegations relating to a Jersey bank account.

Rescue a Child are being looked into by the Charity Commission because of concern over their financial and administrative controls.

The inquiry relates to dealings with a former trustee of the charity, Duncan Grant, and funding for the care of children in India.

The States of Jersey Police have become involved in the case and acting Det insp Nick Troy, of the financial crimes unit, said: ‘We are aware of the case at the moment and we are currently assisting the Indian authorities in their inquiries.’
