WORKERS in Jersey are worse off now than they were a year ago.
Earnings increased by 3.3 per cent in the in the 12-months to June while prices increased by 4.8 per cent during the same period.
The average annual salary was about £27,000 or £519 per week, up from £26,156 or £503 per week in the previous 12-months.
But in real terms wages do not buy as much as they did at the same time last year.
And in the 12-months to June 2003 the increase in average earnings was 4.7 per cent.
