JERSEY RFC 2nds, crowned JRA Emeraude Lines champs last Wednesday, duly moved into the final of the Sugden Cup with a 48-0 victory over Les Quennevais at St Peter yesterday.

SWIMMING: Masters swimmer John Liron lowered his British 50m freestyle short course record by four-tenths of a second while competing in the Brittany Masters championship in Redon yesterday. He finished in a time of 27.06 seconds to claim the gold medal. He won two further golds, in the 50m breast-stroke (34.53 sec) and 4x50m relay with his Ceps Dinan team-mates. Liron's next competition is in Dinard next month.
