JERSEY SPARTAN AC convincingly held on to the inter-insulars honours against Guernsey IAC at the FB Fields over the weekend. A clean sweep of victories in yesterday's U17 and U15 matches gave Jersey a handsome Combined Trophy triumph of 146 points (689.5 to 543.5), with the Sarnians' only joy coming through their Dale Garland-driven win in the senior men's event on Saturday. There were several championship records and a host of personal bests achieved on an excellent two days of intense - but hearteningly friendly - competition.
