THE Constable of St Helier has been left red-faced by his own Chef de Police.
Just last week Mr Crowcroft warned pub and club managers in St Helier to ‘keep the noise down’, but four days later his hand-picked man, Centenier David Christie, the head of the parish’s honorary force, staged a Boxing Day family party that continued into the early hours – and was visited three times by the police.
Mr Crowcroft said: ‘It’s a rather embarrassing situation.
I am looking into it and will comment further in due course.’ Police Insp Richard Bree said that the States police received three complaints from the same person about noise coming from Mon Désir, Route de la Haule, St Lawrence.
They visited the house at midnight and at 2.30 am on 27 December.
Honorary police from St Lawrence also attended at about 12.30 am.
Mr Christie said: ‘I don’t think it was a terribly noisy party, but I should have shut the music off at 11 pm.
It’s my fault.
I didn’t realise it had gone on so long.
We had a marquee in the garden with music playing – I think that’s why some people were disturbed.’
