New clues sought to 1966 murder

DETECTIVES are appealing for fresh information to try to identify the killer who brutally murdered a Finnish au pair girl 40 years ago.

Police chief Graham Power is today calling on Islanders to come forward if they think they might hold the missing clue to Tuula Hoeoek’s death.

Her battered body was found in a field not far from Clos de Roncier on New Year’s Eve 1966.

The 20-year-old’s head had been battered to a pulp with a blunt object.

No one was ever charged with the crime, and there are fears that the killer could still be living in the community.

Mr Power said that the decision to make a public appeal for information followed calls from a former detective in Saturday’s Jersey Evening Post for the case to be reopened.
